Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education
We are responsible, knowledgable and conscientious citizens at St Margaret Ward.
At St Margaret Ward Catholic Primary School, we recognise that education is about nurturing the whole child and preparing our pupils to flourish in all aspects of their lives. We take great pride in our responsibility to equip every child with the knowledge, skills, values and faith they need to become confident, compassionate and responsible members of society.
Through our Ten Ten Life to the Full PSHE programme, we provide pupils with a broad and age-appropriate curriculum that supports their physical, emotional, social and spiritual development. Rooted in the teaching of the Catholic Church, our PSHE curriculum enables pupils to understand what it means to live a healthy, safe and fulfilling life, while developing their self-worth, resilience, relationships and sense of responsibility.
Our Catholic faith is at the heart of all that we do. Through prayer, reflection and the teachings of Jesus, pupils are encouraged to recognise the dignity and uniqueness of every person, to show love and respect for themselves and others, and to make choices that reflect Gospel values. The Ten Ten programme complements our wider Catholic life by helping children to understand themselves as loved by God and to develop positive, respectful and healthy relationships.
Through the opportunities and experiences we provide, our pupils develop into independent, active, compassionate and responsible members of our school community, with the confidence and values to make a positive contribution to the wider world. We seek to prepare every child not only for the next stage of their education, but for a life lived with faith, hope, love, dignity and purpose.
Below is the long-term plan for PSHE education.
